Nikolaos G. Michaloliakos: A Political Prisoner Under Attack!

 

Nikolaos G. Michaloliakos is the most prominent Greek Nationalist alive today. He has been an activist of our Ideology since he was 16 years old and in 1980 he founded the most successful Nationalist organization in modern Greek history, “Golden Dawn”.

Under his leadership, our Movement overcame decades of hardships and in 2012 entered the Greek Parliament with 7%. Immediately, the Greek government approached Golden Dawn trying to assimilate the party to the political establishment, offering money and a mainstream career. Instead, Nikolaos Michaloliakos rejected any compromise with the corrupt elites.

That resulted in the beginning of a fierce political persecution in 2013. Michaloliakos was accused of “running a criminal organization” and was detained pre-trial for 18 months. Not only he did not “bend the knee”, but from his prison cell managed to make Golden Dawn the 3rd strongest party with a half million votes, in the following elections.

In 2019, the electoral system managed to take the seats of Golden Dawn in parliament, for supposedly missing the electoral threshold to enter parliament by a mere 0.07%. The authorities immediately jumped on the opportunity and finally dared to convict Michaloliakos (on first-degree charges) for the past ridiculous charges.

The court denied him any leniency and he was led to a high-security prison for 4 more years. During his imprisonment, his health deteriorated due to the horrible conditions that were purposefully created in the specific establishment. He was even denied any medical treatment until the moment he was in critical condition, yet he survived!

In May 2023, he was released from prison as he had served his sentence according to Greek law. But his release was cancelled within a month, after a huge media and political backlash. The prosecutors claimed that he had no right to release because he remained unrepented to his Ideology and does not accept his “crime” (for which he is still not convicted οn second-degree charges)!

This time, the authorities kept him in solitary confinement for weeks, before moving him to a “regular” cell, targeting once again his health! As a result, he is now hospitalized under guard for the second time, under similar circumstances. Despite all that, just after Christmas, the Board of Appeals rejected his lawyer’s request for release, ruling once again that he should remain imprisoned and suffer in the same conditions.

It is crystal clear that we are dealing with an assassination attempt!

Nationalists from all over Greece are donating blood for Michaloliakos’ treatment. A protest has already been held outside the Board, and larger actions will soon take place.

The Greek government believes that they can murder a political prisoner, by violating even the “human rights” they so much like to talk about, without facing any consequences. We ask our friends around the world to show that there will be no cover-up for that crime!
